Description of Duties of Committees

 

1.  Program  (Chair: Dina Wheat 2008-2009/ Sara Colee 2009-2010)

The Program committee makes arrangements for meetings and educational programs, including recommendations for location and program participants.  Examples of duties (but not limited to):

a.                   location

b.                   speaker/program

c.                   invitations

d.                   registration

e.                   handouts

f.                    name tags

g.                   set up/break down

h.                   food

i.                     prizes 

 

2.  Membership  (Chair: Stephanie Heis)

The Membership committee shall promote membership in the Society and to review applications for membership in the Society.  Examples of duties (but not limited to):

a.       review applications for membership before presenting to the Board for approval

b.       contact applicant when application is received to confirm application process

c.       maintain membership roster

d.       mail dues statements

 

3. Nominating  (Chair: Nancy Jarrett)

The Nominating committee shall prepare a slate of nominees for the officers and board of directors.  Examples of duties (but not limited to):

a.       issue call for nominations to members in February

b.       determine eligibility of interested members

c.       present proposed slate to membership at Spring Conference

 

4.  Public Relations  (Chair: Anita Wolfe)

The Public Relations committee is responsible for developing publicity about the Society that encourages membership and promotes the ideals of the organization.  Examples of duties (but not limited to):

a.       newsletter – create, distribute

b.       Website – maintain

 

5.  Bylaws  (Chair: Judy Carreon)

The Bylaws committee shall be responsible for reviewing and maintaining the Bylaws of the Society.  Examples of duties (but not limited to):

a.       present proposed revisions in writing to membership 20 days prior to voting

b.       publish approved amendments and/or revisions to membership

* Plan to update Section A - Qualifications For Membership of Article IV during 2007-2008.

 

6.  Sponsorship  (Chair: Nancy Jarrett)

The Sponsorship committee is a special committee created to assist with funding for meetings.  Sponsorship funds are vital to being able to offer valuable programs while keeping fees affordable for our members.  Examples of duties (but not limited to):

a.       create letter to solicit sponsorship

b.      contact potential sponsors
