Nancy Jarrett, President 2008-2009 Welcome to the Alabama Society for Healthcare Executive Secretaries/Administrative Professionals (AlaSHES/AP) website. Founded in 1981, AlaSHES/AP represents healthcare executive secretaries and administrative professionals in Alabama and is a member of the Alabama Hospital Association. The purpose of AlaSHES/AP is to promote the understanding and support of healthcare institutions and their services through the stimulation of professional secretarial methods inside and outside the institution and increase the level of knowledge and standards in healthcare administration. The objectives of the Society is to initiate and foster programs and activities to fulfill the purpose of the Society by providing an exchange of information, techniques and ideas; conducting educational programs, and encouraging and assisting individual members to raise standards, develop their knowledge, and increase their competence. Over the past 27 years, AlaSHES/AP has presented many wonderful programs and speakers that have encouraged our members to grow and become more efficient with a greater feeling of achievement. AlaSHES/AP presents three (3) educational programs per year hosted by our members. To learn more about these programs please view the links to Upcoming Seminars and Speakers for more details. All of the educational programs presented to AlaSHES/AP members offer CEU’s approved by the Alabama Hospital Association. Membership Eligibility Active Members: Individuals eligible for active Membership in the Society shall be those persons employed at Executive Secretary and/or Administrative Assistant level. So long as the job relates to the administration of a hospital or healthcare organization. Eligible Individuals must report directly to Vice President level or above (i.e., CEO, COO, CFO, VP or Assistant Administrator). The hospital or healthcare organization must be a member of the Alabama Hospital Association. Note: Applicants must have a written endorsement of their immediate supervisor.
